OOCHIE (SB) - TURN DOWN FOR WAT (@itzoochiebabe)

(VIA)

Oochie is the funniest

Alley Boy - Apartments (Video)

I’m pretty sure this video was shot last summer when Alley Boy came up to be one of the last minute acts in the cancelled Chief Keef show at Stadium.  While in DC, Alley Boy came around the Morton Street in Uptown to fuck with King Shug and everyone else in 640.

Related: I’m really hope Shug gets a bigger buzz soon, in DC alone he has gotten some pretty good looks and affiliations (Alley Boy, Wale, Fat Trel Shy Glizzy among others.)  He just got out after being locked up for a few months (for a probation violation) so expect to hear some new music from him soon

P Wild - I Can’t Trust A Soul (Prod. by YB on da Beat) Video

Whoa, missed this

StarStunna x Izy x Diggy Ro’Zay - Don’t Fukk Around

New DC young kids showing one of the rarer and clearer examples of Chicago influence on rap from the District recently.

Uptown XO - Flowers (Prod. by AB The Pro)

X.O. carries the torch for both Reasonable Doubt-style storytelling and Afrocentric applied anger.  The best to come from Uptown does both on his Colour de Grey album coming out on the 29th.  X.O. seems content making good music for the sake of good music and nothing more.

T. Boogie - The Day After Tomorrow (Prod. Dolan Beats)

Boogie and Dolan both killed this shit.  “The Day After Tomorrow” dropped back in December and I definitely heard it but it slipped through the cracks somehow.  The track cranks though, this might be one of the most melodically interesting trap song I’ve ever heard, even Dolan’s tag seems to add more to the beat.  That hook is killer too.  Give T. Boogie some shine.  Dolan Beats too, I heard he’s attached to a lot of projects in the works.  I’m definitely trying to hear more from these too, preferably on the same track.

Meatchi – Free Crack (Mixtape)

image

Free Crack as a whole wasn’t something I enjoyed.  I think that with the number of tracks the Slutty Boyz have putting out in the past year, they have been spreading themselves too thin. I’m just glad that “Letter To Toby” is on this mixtape.  It allows Meatchi to shine and sheds some light on his own past.  “E St Bangaz” and “My Eyes” are good at being both catchy and introspective. “Stunt” and “I’m Bangin” are also decent street tracks, but both have horrible hooks.  A common problem with past Slutty Boyz & Fat Trel mixtapes has been balance.  Trap bangers are paired with auto-tuned club jams.  A few storytelling tracks are thrown in for good measure.  This isn’t a unique problem in rap at all but Trel seems to have better mastered putting out eclectic mixtapes.  This isn’t entirely to the discredit of Meatchi though; he just should give future projects more direction.
