BTS: Wale/MMG (Penn State)

When the MMG tour came through Penn State recently, I got to hang out with Wale, get a little behind the scenes footage and film the show, which featured Machine Gun Kelly and a cameo from Game.

How could you not fuck with Meek? Especially after this interview.  Also props to the reporter for dabbing him up.

Meek Mill f/ Young Chris - “House Party” (Mixtape, 2011)

So Meek Mill has been dead to me, more dead to me than Tupac is, ever since he chose to make Rick Ross Jr. records instead of just rapping like the scattershot madman he really is. The Tone Beats produced “House Party” is a midpoint between these two styles, which is cool but doesn’t completely redeem him yet. Let’s see what Dreamchasers holds. I’m mostly posting this because I’m suddenly wondering if anybody knows the origins or significance of that little vocal fragment that’s become so common in the post-Lugerian pallete? I can’t exactly fix my keyboard to represent the phonetics, it’s something like an “aye” or like a “why” without the “w.” Maybe it’s trying to ask those question: Why is it there? Why has a single choked out and just barely human half syllable become a staple in the mechanical world of this style of rap production? Why is it always buried so low in the mix that you wouldn’t even notice it? Why does it seem to happen sporadically a few times through the tracks and then disappear? I mean, I sort of get why Luger put it in “BMF” - because he was building something of his own but not why the knock off Lugers would hone in on such a meaningless element and then start throwing it on their own records. Generally mimics miss small details and this one seems like the smallest.

Dreamchasers drops Thursday. You will likely hear that little vocal blip elsewhere on the tape.

I think its just a generic FL Studio sound…I think Luger used it more prominently but I’ve heard it in other tracks (Swaggin by iamsu! is an example.)

Meek Mill & Rick Ross - Work (Final Version) (Tags)

Lex Luger on the beat.

I’ve been waiting on the final version for a while but, Ross is completely unneccessary.

An older Forbez video of Osichino “airing out Roc-a-Fella’s dirty laundry.”  Check out lil Meek Mills though.

Complex Interview: Wale, Pill, and Meek Mill on Maybach Music Group's Master Plan →

Noz noted that Meek’s goal was to “be rich forever” while Pill wants to be sure that he is “affecting the culture…”

Pill also talked didn’t really talk about problems with his former manager, “Whiteboy D”.  Although I certainly don’t know for certain, it appears that Pill possibly wanted to go in a more commercial direction in some aspects and eventually their business partnership ended (White Boy D is now Trouble’s manager.)
